Does iOS 17 support adding links in notes [detailed explanation]

After upgrading to iOS 17 or later, use the Notes app to add web links and link to other related notes, such as travel itineraries and lists of recommended restaurants. As you add street and email addresses, phone numbers, and dates, they automatically turn into underlined text, and you can do more with just a tap.

Add a web link to the note

Open the “Notes” app, and perform any of the following operations at the location where you want to insert the link in the note:

Select the text, then tap Add Link. The selected text becomes a text link. Enter a URL to specify the link destination.

Tap to place the insertion point, tap Add Link, then enter the URL and name (optional).

Use a title to link to another note

You can create a link to another note using the title of the target note. If the title of the target note changes, the link text is updated to the new title.

At the point in the note where you want to add the link, tap the insertion point, then tap Add Link. Or type ">>" directly.

Enter a title for the target note, then select the note or create a new note.

To edit or remove a link, press and hold the link, then choose the action.

Use custom link text to link another note

In addition to using the title of the target note, you can also use custom link text. If the title of the target note changes, the link text doesn't change:

At the point in the note where you want to add the link, select the link text, then tap Add Link. Enter a title for the target note, then select the note.

Underlined text

Additionally, in Notes, text identified as a street or email address, phone number, date, or other data appears underlined. Tap underlined text to perform an action on it. For example, you can view a street address, compose an email, dial a phone number, add a calendar event, or convert units and currencies in Maps.
